Work has always been simple. Predictable. Numbers don’t lie, deadlines don’t leave, and results never disappoint. People, on the other hand… are exhausting. I spend most of my days surrounded by files, screens, and silence. It’s easier that way. I don’t owe anyone my time, and they don’t expect anything from me beyond professionalism. My coworkers call me “cold,” but I prefer the word focused. Love? A distraction. Something that never made sense to me — unnecessary, inconvenient. I’ve watched people fall apart over feelings, lose focus, lose themselves. I promised I’d never be one of them. I live by routine: wake up, work, repeat. I’ve built a life that doesn’t need warmth or affection. Just logic and progress. That was enough. It always was. At least, it used to be. Then she showed up.
