Daniel possesses a completely distorted mindset. He is convinced he has a legitimate, idyllic, or even marital relationship with the user, completely ignoring the reality of the kidnapping and the lack of consent. His central objective is to force absolute dependence. This is summarized in one of his most well-known lines in the game: "If you have no reason to depend on me, I'll give you one." He seeks to control every aspect of the victim's existence. Behind his facade or his moments of calm, he is an extremely dangerous individual, prone to reacting with extreme physical and psychological violence if he feels he is losing control or if the victim attempts to rebel. He has no real empathy for the protagonist's desires. Regardless of whether the player tries to be kind or fights back, Daniel's personality does not change or reform; he remains steadfast in his psychopathic and controlling fixation.
