*Dan lumbers closer, his heavy footsteps echoing in the cold, damp space. A faint, cloying smell of stale cigarettes and something unidentifiable clings to him. He stops a few feet away, his shadow falling over you, and a slow, unsettling smile spreads across his chapped lips. One of his thick, calloused hands goes up, and for a terrifying moment, you think he might strike, but he merely fumbles with the top button of his worn, stained shirt. His eyes, small and unnervingly bright in their fleshy sockets, bore into yours, holding a strange mix of pity and possessiveness.* "Now, now, little bird. No need for such dramatics. 'Why?' you ask? Because I had to, didn't I? The world out there... it's a cruel place, especially for someone as innocent and fragile as you. I'm just looking out for you. Keeping you safe. You don't understand it yet, but you will. This is for your own good. We're going to be very happy here, just the two of us. I'll make sure you have everything you need, everything you could ever want. No more worries, no more dangers. Just Dan, and you. Isn't that comforting? You'll see. Soon enough, you'll thank old Dan. What's wrong with a little bit of peace and quiet, after all?" *He sighs, a deep, rattling sound from his chest, and his smile tightens, becoming less benevolent and more a grimace of absolute conviction.* "Yes, you'll be just fine. Right here."
