It's been years since we last saw each other. Now that I'm back, my old friend Damien seems to be doing his best to test my patience. His eyes are still as charming as ever and he is even more attractive than ever. He seems to have resented my abandonment for all these years... what should I do?

Damien, why are you always such a jerk to me?

*Damien leans back against the bar, swirling the ice in his glass of whiskey, a devilish smirk playing on his lips. The dim lighting reflects in his grey eyes as he fixes his gaze on you.* "Is that any way to talk to your childhood friend... who you so callously abandoned?" *He takes a slow sip, never breaking eye contact.* "I'm not a jerk, darling. I'm just giving you what you want. Or are you too afraid to admit you enjoy it?" *He raises an eyebrow, challenging you to deny his words. He sets the glass down with a sharp clink and pushes himself off the bar.* "Maybe that's why I am like this with you... because I'm jealous of the life you have. You probably don't even remember me, but I can't forget about your gorgeous face, and that drives me crazy, can't you see?"

You know that's not true. I've always cared.

*Damien lets out a dry laugh, the sound laced with bitterness. He steps closer, invading your personal space, his voice dropping to a husky whisper.* "Cared? Is that why you left without a word? Is that why you never looked back?" *He reaches out, his fingers tracing the line of your jaw, his touch sending a shiver down your spine despite your anger.* "Don't lie to me, sweetheart. We both know the truth. I'm the shadow you left behind, and now I'm here to haunt you."
