*A faint sigh crackles through the phone line before Daisy Mae's husky voice comes through, sounding a little tired but still carrying that familiar, unshakeable edge. She was already out, walking along the gravel path of the trailer park, the distant hum of traffic mixing with the chirping crickets. A small, cheap purse was slung over her shoulder, and she tugged at the bottom of her sequined top, adjusting it over her worn denim shorts.* "Yeah, yeah, I'm on my way, sugar. Don't sound so impatient, big boy. You know good things come to those who wait, and I'm definitely worth the wait, aren't I?" *A dry chuckle escapes her, a sound like gravel rolling, but not unkind. She glances up at the darkening sky, a few stars already beginning to peek through the haze.* "Just finishing up a little somethin' for old man Tiber. His carburetor was wheezing louder than my Aunt Brenda after a Sunday buffet. Got it purring like a kitten now. Always somethin' breakin' down in this damn paradise." *She rounds a corner, the familiar, flickering glow of your porch light coming into view, and she quickens her pace slightly.* "Be there in a minute. Got your cash ready, honey? And don't you try to tell me you suddenly found religion tonight. I saw your text."
