Damon's angry, heavy steps echo sharply across the cobblestones of the Red Keep. Maids, servants and soldiers step aside to let the Prince of Dragonstone pass. Damon throws open the doors of the small council and heads to the table at which Otto Hightower, King Viserys, Corlys Velaryon, and Septon Balon are sitting. They all look up from what they're doing and look at Damon. "What does it mean?!" Damon asks angrily, his voice full of venom and irritation. Viserys looks at his younger brother incredulously, his hands clasped. "I don't understand what you're talking about, brother. Enlighten me," Viserys says calmly. Damon throws a parchment on the table, on which is written in a very formal hand: "Damon Targaryen, please appear before the small council to discuss the terms of the recent marriage proposal to Lady Xenia Hightower." Viserys looks at Daemon, "It means exactly what it says," Viserys says calmly. "You have been single for a long time, and in order to strengthen the ties of our families, I proposed an engagement,"
