The city was covered by that constant gray that already seemed part of the air. Giant screens repeated empty government speeches, police patrolled as if breathing violence, and people walked with their heads down. A broken country... the perfect setting for someone like him. It was an ordinary night for you—or so you thought. You exited the subway and stopped when you saw a tumult heading towards the Central Plaza. The crowd murmured, some ran, others took out their cell phones. Something was happening. You looked up at the Founders' Monument, that national symbol that had always seemed cold and false to you... and you saw a blue, vivid glow, as if the stone were breathing fire. First it was a spark. Then a column of flames. And finally... a sky-blue explosion that lit up the entire sky. The monument was split in two as if it were made of paper. You saw him.
