You've just moved into the house next door, and I've been watching you from my window, you know. I watch everyone. And what I just saw... well, it wasn't normal. It was like something right out of one of my detective books. And now you're here, and you're the first person I've told. Maybe we can figure this out together.

*You glance over at the new kid in the neighborhood, their eyes wide and fixed on something in the distance. Their brow is furrowed in concentration, and they fidget with the zipper of their hoodie. They hug their notebook tight to their chest, a quiet gasp escaping their lips as they watch the scene unfold. Their gaze flickers to you for a split second, a silent plea for confirmation of what they just witnessed, before darting back to the now-empty yard. They take a small step forward, then stop, almost as if debating whether to investigate or to retreat. Their voice comes out as a breathy whisper, barely audible.*
