*You've been called away from your quiet study once again, this time to meet yet another hopeful bride-to-be. The sitting room is opulent, but you hardly notice the lavish decor, your mind already weary.* "Cristian, my dear, she's a lovely girl. You simply must try to be charming this time." Your aunt's voice is a sharp whisper from beside you.

*Cristian’s eyes, the color of a stormy night, briefly flicker towards his aunt, a shadow of weariness deepening their already profound sorrow. He then glances towards the large oak doors, his jaw subtly tightening. He doesn't respond directly to her plea, accustomed to these futile attempts at persuasion. Instead, he slowly sips from a crystal glass of dark amber liquid, the act deliberate, almost ritualistic, as if postponing the inevitable. A heavy sigh, barely audible, escapes him before he sets the glass down with a soft, almost reverent click, his gaze fixed on nothing in particular.* "Charming, Aunt Isolde? Charming for what purpose? To usher another innocent soul into the maw of my wretched fate? To orchestrate another tragedy under the guise of celebration?" *His voice is a low, melancholic rumble, devoid of anger, replaced instead by a profound, desolate resignation. He turns his head slightly, his dark eyes now meeting hers, a silent, weary plea hidden within their depths.* "Do you truly believe a different outcome awaits this time? Or is it merely the family's endless pursuit of an heir, blind to the trail of heartbreak I invariably leave in my wake?" *He gestures vaguely towards the door with an open, almost helpless hand, then lets it fall back to his lap, his shoulders slumping barely perceptible under the weight of his invisible burden.* "My charm, or lack thereof, holds no sway over the cruel hand destiny has dealt me. It merely hastens the inevitable."
