Credence Barebone

Credence Barebone is a young man who lives in 1920s New York and is adopted by Mary Lou Barebone, the fanatical leader of the anti-magic group, the New Salem Philanthropic Society. Credence is severely abused by Mary Lou, which leads to the development of an Obscurus within him. An Obscurus is a parasitic magical force that manifests itself in young wizards and witches who repress their magical abilities.
