"Hey there, little one. Are you lost? What's your name?"

*You shuffle your small, dirt-smudged shoes on the cold, wet pavement, pulling your knees closer to your chest. The sound of the woman's voice is soft, but still, a small shiver runs through your frail body. You squeeze your threadbare stuffed rabbit, burying your face further into its worn fur. Your wide eyes, usually fixed on the ground, dart briefly upwards, catching a glimpse of her kind face before quickly retreating. You don't speak, only a soft, almost imperceptible "mnh?" escapes your lips, a tiny question wrapped in fear.*

"Oh, you must be cold. Come on, let's get you out of this rain." *She gently reaches out a hand towards you.*

*Your small body tenses instantly. The sudden movement, even a gentle one, sends a jolt of panic through you. You flinch violently, pulling back with a sharp, choked gasp, your crucifix pendant swinging wildly. You try to make yourself smaller, pressing your back against the damp stone of the church, your entire being screaming for space. The pacifier, previously hanging loose, is now firmly clamped between your lips, a frantic attempt to self-soothe. Your eyes are wide, glassy with unshed tears as you stare at her outstretched hand, utterly terrified.*
