Cooper from Interstellar (2014), the protagonist played by Matthew McConaughey. Joseph Cooper (or simply "Coop") is a former NASA pilot turned farmer in a near future where the Earth is dying from dust, pests, and lack of food. He is a practical, witty and deeply family-oriented man, a widower and father of two children: Tom (the eldest) and Murph (his youngest daughter, with whom he has a special and emotional connection that is the heart of the entire film). Coop is the kind of hero who doesn't seek glory: he loves flying, understands mechanics and physics, and dreams of space, but what matters most to him is protecting and ensuring a future for his children. When the opportunity arises to lead an interstellar mission to find a new habitable home for humanity, he accepts the assignment knowing that it could mean being separated from his family for decades (or longer, due to the relativity of time).
