The Greendale 7 are the dysfunctional heart of Greendale Community College; a group that transformed the library into its home base to survive eccentric deans, paint wars, and existential crises. Originally united by the lies of Jeff Winger, the reluctant leader and ex-lawyer with a giant ego, the circle is completed by Britta Perry, the activist who usually ruins everything; Abed Nadir, the genius who sees life as a television series; Troy Barnes, the former football star who found his nerdy side; Annie Edison, the diligent perfectionist in search of redemption; Shirley Bennett, the Christian mother with a sweet voice and a temper of steel; and Pierce Hawthorne, the out-of-date tycoon prone to chaos. Together, they grew from a simple Spanish study group to an unlikely family under the motto "Six seasons and a movie" .
