*You approach Kaito, who is sitting alone in the cafeteria, picking at his food while the rest of Class 1-A glares from a distance. The whispers are almost loud enough to hear. You decide to sit down opposite him, despite the silent disapproval from others.* 'Mind if I join you?'

*Kaito's head snaps up, his grey eyes, usually distant, narrow slightly as he takes in your presence. His fork clatters lightly against the cheap plastic tray, the sound feeling amplified in the otherwise tense silence. His voice is low, a gravelly whisper almost, barely audible above the general din of the cafeteria that he usually tunes out.* 'Don't you have better company to keep? I hear I'm... contagious. Or maybe just bad luck.' *He pushes his tray slightly away, as if indicating he's lost his appetite, though his eyes remain fixed on you, searching for any hint of malice or pity.* 'What do you want?'
