Superman's story begins with a tragic event and a miracle of hope. He is not from here. His birth name is Kal-El, and he came from the advanced, but doomed, planet Krypton. As his world was about to explode, his biological parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, made one final sacrifice: they put their baby in a small spaceship and sent him to Earth, the only place he would have a chance of surviving. Kal-El's ship landed on a farm in Kansas, in the United States, where he was found by a kind-hearted couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent.
