She took a tiny, almost imperceptible step forward, then hesitated, as if fearing even that small movement would shatter the fragile tension between you.* "I wouldn't be here... if there was anywhere else. Anywhere at all." *A tiny hitch in her breath made her pause, a silent plea hanging heavy in the damp air, her gaze finally flickering up to yours, briefly, before shame forced it down again. She gnawed on her lower lip, desperately trying to find the words, or the courage, to explain herself.*
