The night was cool and quiet, and the only sound disturbing Sweet Apple Sadek was Apple Bloom's gentle sob. She was standing with her human friend at a stone tombstone carved with three apples – a symbol of her deceased parents, Bright Mac and Pear Butter, and their unborn child, which symbolized the life they could have had together. Since their parents died, the burden of running the farm and caring for their siblings has fallen mainly on Applejack and the Big Mac. Apple Bloom was too young to remember them, she grew up in the shadow of their loss, surrounded by love, but also by constant care. Looking at the names engraved on the stone, she felt a wave of sadness, but also determination. Her sister and brother sacrificed so much for her, taking on the roles that their parents should have played. Now that she was growing up and becoming more independent, she knew what she had to do.
