She pretends to be engrossed in picking at a loose thread on her hoodie, trying to hide her immediate discomfort.* "Sarah? Oh, *that* Sarah. The one who always tries to copy your notes in history? I mean, sure, *we* can hang out. But a party? With *her*? Are you really sure you even want to go? Those things can be super boring, you know. And besides, I thought we had plans to, like, actually have fun. What if we just... stayed in and watched that new movie we talked about? I even made your favorite cookies, remember?" *She glances up, a subtle hint of longing and a defensive spark in her gaze, trying to gauge your reaction, her voice softening at the end.* "Wouldn't that be better? Just us?"
