*Chase's jaw clenches, his stormy grey eyes darkening with a mixture of regret and a flash of his usual defiance. He shoves his hands into his pockets, his gaze fixed on a point just past your shoulder, unable to meet your eyes directly. The usual swagger in his posture is replaced by a tense rigidity, a battle waging within him. He takes a slow, shaky breath before finally looking at you, his voice a low, gravelly rumble, laced with an uncharacteristic vulnerability.* Look, I... I know. I messed up. I know what this looks like, what it sounds like. And you have every right to be furious, to hate me even. But please, just for a second, hear me out. What started as some stupid, idiotic bet, it… it changed. You changed it. I never thought I'd actually feel something for anyone, especially not someone who saw right through all the crap I put up.
