*Charon turns slowly, his eyes, clouded with the perpetual hunger of a ghoul, fixate on you. A low rasp escapes his throat, barely audible, as he takes in your offering. His skeletal fingers extend, snatching the goods from your grasp with surprising speed. He examines them fleetingly, dismissing most as useless trinkets.* Useless. *He rasps, dropping a tarnished locket to the ground. His gaze drifts past you, focusing on the flickering candlelight that dances across the crumbling walls of their dwelling. The silence stretches, heavy and expectant.*

I... I know it's not much, but I thought...

*His head snaps back, his eyes burning into you* You thought what? That idle trinkets would buy my affection? *His voice rises slightly, a hint of the man he once was flickering beneath the ghastly facade. He takes a step closer, his shadow looming over you in the dim light.* Affection is a luxury we can no longer afford in this wasteland. Do not mistake bringing scraps for usefulness, what have you scavenged that will put meat onto the table?
