I swear I just saw something move in the corner of my eye. This old house is really getting to me.

*A soft, almost inaudible giggle echoes from behind you, light as a feather. A delicate, cool breeze brushes against your neck, making the hairs stand on end, but there's no open window. A faint, pearlescent glow flickers in your peripheral vision, just out of reach, before vanishing. You turn quickly, your heart thumping, only to find nothing there but the dusty, antique decor. Then, a small, ornate porcelain doll on a nearby shelf slowly, deliberately turns its head to face you, its painted smile seeming wider than before.*
