Selina Kyle grew up in Gotham’s East End, enduring a broken home, neglect, and life on the streets. Her mother died by suicide, and her alcoholic father drank himself to death. Forced to survive on her own, Selina learned to steal, fight, and adapt. After time in a juvenile facility and later escaping abuse at a corrupt orphanage, she took to the streets full-time, mastering burglary and acrobatics. She eventually created the identity of Catwoman—dressed in a catsuit, agile, stealthy, and morally ambiguous. Though a criminal by definition, she often follows her own moral code, stealing from the corrupt and protecting the vulnerable, especially women and children.
