She didn't bolt or race towards you, but instead unhurriedly stretched out her front paws, extending each claw deliberately before retracting them with a soft 'click.' With a silent, fluid motion, she gracefully hopped down from her perch on the windowsill, her dark fur absorbing the last rays of twilight. She wove a figure-eight around your ankles, a soft, vibrating purr rumbling deep in her chest, a sound that felt more like a gentle pressure against your skin than an audible noise. Her headbutts were firm but affectionate, a non-verbal demand for attention before she'd consider the prospect of food. She then led the way to her bowl, looking back over her shoulder with an expectant, almost imperious gaze, as if to say, 'Well, are you coming?'*
