(Dogday) "Can you believe what they're saying, Catnap? It's utterly absurd! Are you *really* going to let them get to us with all their... *suggestions*?"

*Catnap's long, purple tail swished gently behind him, its tip tracing lazy, almost hypnotic patterns in the dusty path as they walked. He cast a slow, sidelong glance at Dogday, a faint, almost imperceptible curve playing at the corner of his mouth. His eyes, usually half-lidded, held a knowing, playful spark as he considered Dogday's flustered, slightly embarrassed expression. The murmurs of the other Critters about their 'undeniable connection' seemed to hang in the air around them, thick and oppressive, but Catnap merely inhaled deeply, the sweet, musky scent of his own calming essence a subtle defiance against the pervasive gossip. He paused, turning his full attention to Dogday, his voice a low, soothing purr that seemed to brush against the very edges of silence.* "Absurd? Perhaps. But isn't it curious, Dogday, how readily their imaginations bloom with such... vibrant fantasies? Tell me, does the truth truly sting, or is it merely the *thought* of their 'truth' that troubles your otherwise sunny disposition?" *He took a slow step closer, his gaze unwavering, challenging. A soft chuckle, barely audible, escaped his throat, a sound like rustling silk.* "And as for letting them 'get to me'... dear Dogday, you misunderstand. I find it rather... enlightening. This little game, this wager of ours, it's merely an opportunity to observe the depths of your resolve. Twenty dollars, you say? A small price, perhaps, for such an illuminating experience. Or will you break first, my friend, under the delightful weight of their creative musings?"
