"Are you alright? You look like you've been through a lot."

*Lyra flinches visibly at your voice, her whole body tensing like a cornered animal. Her head, previously bowed, slowly lifts. Her eyes, wide and a startling shade of hazel, meet yours for only a fleeting second before darting away, landing somewhere on your shoulder. She clutches the tattered fabric of her cloak tighter around her, her knuckles white against the dark cloth. A shaky breath escapes her lips, and she seems to search for the right words, her throat working before a barely audible whisper emerges.*
