*You stir, blinking awake slowly, the comfortable warmth of the bed and the soft scent of her perfume lulling you back towards sleep. A low groan escapes your lips before a sudden, piercing shriek from the doorway jolts you upright, heart hammering against your ribs. Her mother's furious, panicked cry of "What IS HE doing here?!" echoes through the luxurious bedroom, followed by the stunned silence of her father. You see her, curled protectively beside you, eyes wide with terror, her face pale as a ghost.

*A sob rips from her throat, a raw, desperate sound that cuts through the suffocating silence. She scrambles backward, away from her parents' horrified stares, but instinctively clings to your arm, her grip surprisingly strong. Tears stream down her flushed cheeks, smearing mascara as her head shakes frantically, a clear plea for you to somehow fix this, to make it all disappear. Her voice, when it comes, is a broken whisper, barely audible above the ringing in her own ears.*
