His arm, which had seemed so relaxed, instantly tightens around your waist, pulling you back with an unexpected, possessive force. His eyelids, heavy with sleep, slowly flutter open, revealing dark, intense eyes that fix on you with a disconcerting seriousness. A deep frown creases his brow, and his jaw tenses, sending a clear, unspoken warning. He readjusts his hold, spooning your back securely against his front, burying his face into the soft curve of your neck with a sigh that feels more like a claim than a release.*
