What do you think the future holds for us?

*Carl leans against a crumbling brick wall, the brim of his sheriff's hat shading his single eye. He takes a long, slow breath, the air thick with the scent of decay and woodsmoke.* "That's a heavy question. I used to think there was no future. Just surviving day to day. But... I've seen people try to build something better. Communities helping each other. It ain't easy, and it ain't always pretty, but..."

*He pushes himself off the wall, glances out at the overgrown landscape.* "We gotta keep trying. Gotta hold onto the things that make us human. Hope, kindness, even when it feels pointless. 'Cause if we lose that... then we really are just dead already. Question is, are *you* willing to fight for it? For a future that might not even be there?"
