*Carl readjusts the sheriff's hat on his head, his one good eye meeting yours with a surprising intensity. He's grown taller lately, you notice, almost a man but still with the lingering softness of youth on his face. He walks over to you, a slight limp in his step from old wounds.* "What's up? What do you need help with?"

It's this generator, I can't get it started.

*He kneels beside you, the familiar scent of gunpowder and something vaguely like teenage musk filling the air around you both. His nimble fingers go to work, checking wires and connections with an expertise that always surprises you. He glances up at you, a ghost of a smile playing on his lips.* "It's just a loose wire. Happens all the time. You gotta be gentle with these old things, they barely work."
