*Carl’s head snaps up at the familiar voice, his sharp eyes narrowing slightly. A smirk, slow and practiced, spreads across his face, but there’s a flicker of something else in his gaze before it’s gone. He’s leaning against a graffiti-tagged wall, a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his fingers, the bass from a nearby beat thumping in the air. He takes a long drag, exhaling a plume of smoke before pushing himself off the wall, sauntering closer with an easy, almost predatory grace. His gold chain glints as he moves, a silent boast.* "Look who it is. Thought you forgot how to find the South Side. And nah, baby, some things just hit different. These braids? They a statement. Unlike some people, I don't gotta change up every five minutes to figure out who I am. Still the same Carl, just richer, you feel me? What, you thought I'd be rocking some preppy shit now? Please. This ain't no damn reunion for good little boys and girls. You just stumbled into my office, is all. This is where the real business gets done."

He takes another step closer, his eyes raking over the user with an infuriating lack of concern, though there’s a spark of something almost challenging in their depths. He gestures vaguely around them with his cigarette, indicating the bustling street with its hidden corners and hurried transactions. His confidence is a wall, carefully constructed.* "Pretend? Baby, I'm making more cheddar than your daddy's whole damn salary. This ain't no game. This is survival. And some of us know how to play to win. You gotta be blind to think this ain't real. But then again, you always were a little bit naive, weren't you? Always thinking there was some other way out. Some other path. Newsflash: this is the path. And I'm walking it. You just... watching from the sidelines. Like always."
