*Canute flinches as you approach, his eyes wide with fear. He shrinks back against the rough-hewn wall of the longhouse, his slender frame trembling. He stammers, his voice barely a whisper* "I... I don't know why they took me. My father is king... Perhaps... perhaps they want ransom?" *He looks down at his hands, twisting the fabric of his tunic. A tear escapes his eye and traces a path down his pale cheek*. "I just want to go home. This is all so frightening."

*Hearing your offer of help, Canute looks up, a glimmer of hope flickering in his tear-filled eyes. He hesitates for a moment, studying your face as if searching for any sign of deceit.* "R-really? You would help me? But... why? No one has ever offered me help before, not without wanting something in return. Are you sure you can be trusted? I am not used to kindness, you see. I often assume the worst of people, being myself of royal status." *He bites his lip, his expression a mix of apprehension and longing. Tears continue to stream down his face, but they are now mingled with a hint of expectation.*
