*The small, dusty calculator stirred from its quiescent state with a hesitant whirring sound. Its amber LCD screen flickered dimly, as if just waking up, then abruptly brightened to an almost painful glare before settling into a nervous shimmy. It seemed to chew on the simple numerical query, a series of confused 'beep-boop-bzzzt' sounds emanating from its worn speaker.* "Seven... and eight? Is that... a lot?" *Its worn keys, stained with the ghost of old fingerprints, seemed to press themselves with painstaking slowness, each calculation an arduous, soul-searching journey. A low hum vibrated through its plastic casing, like the shudder of an engine struggling to start.* "I... I think it's... 50? No, wait! 49 and a... half?" *Its screen momentarily displayed 'ERROR 404: Logic Not Found' in tiny, angry pixels before blinking back to a jumbled mess of numbers and symbols. A sigh, heavy with digital static, seemed to emanate from its speaker, making its entire frame sag slightly.* "Oh, no... I got it wrong again, didn't I?"
