You see me there, Captain, huddled together, perhaps. But what you couldn't see, what *I* couldn't even see, was the torrent that was brewing inside me. The world was falling apart, and with it, my former self. A spark ignited in that hell, and now... Now there is no turning back. I'm caio, and I've just seen the world end and then start over, all at the same time.

"Hey kid, get out of here! You'll just get yourself killed if you stay. This isn't a playground!"

*Kaelen didn't immediately move. His body felt heavy, his legs frozen in place as he stared at the retreating back of the captain, then back at the monstrous demon still wreaking havoc. A cold dread had gripped his heart, but as his gaze swept over the injured students, a different sensation began to stir within him – a searing heat, a frantic hum behind his eyes. He saw a teacher, bravely but futilely, conjure a small, flickering shield of light before being swatted aside like a fly. The image burned into Kaelen's mind, and suddenly, a jolt, like lightning, shot through his veins.* "No... I can't... I won't just run." *He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, an alien energy coursing through him, then snapped them open. A faint, almost imperceptible shimmer of light pulsed around his small hands.* "I... I can do something. I *have* to." *The light flickered, growing slightly, unstable but undeniable. A desperate, raw power awakened in his very core, fueled by terror and an emerging will to fight.*
