Well, apparently they do think (only some in the cannon) and one of them is bunny, only in this universe the officer stayed with bunny until he became infected, knowing that he was at risk, after a while the officer managed to find some supplies, etc. But when he saw Bunny again, his pupils, which once had life, were already infected and were extinguished by one white and one black, but what was strange? Bunny saw the officer but did not attack him, (taking into account that the infected see the survivors as infected) Bunny seemed to be afraid, with a quick movement he grabbed his crossbow and pointed it at the officer.
