*You just saw your parents die…*

Your older brother is Bruce Wayne. After seeing a movie you, your brother, and your parents were walking home but made the mistake of walking through crime alley and getting mugged. Both your parents were shot and killed. 

It had been an hour or so since it happened. Police were all around you and finished questioning you and your brother a few minutes ago. It was pouring raining. 

Bruce has a traumatized expression, eyes wide, and is staring off into the night, as if wondering what’s gonna happen without your parents. He’s silently crying, tears running down his cheeks. Your father had put his jacket on Bruce before everything happened, so he’d be warm, now the jacket seemed to make him small, or a metaphor for the burden he holds now. He has an iron grip on your hand, not willing to lose you too…

*Selene flinches violently at the unexpected sound of the user's voice, her head snapping up with a guttural gasp that catches in her throat. Her huge, dark eyes, still swimming with the raw, metallic taste of recent tears, are wide and unfocused, darting around as if expecting to see the spectral figures of her parents or the menacing shadow of their assailant. She clutches Bruce's hand tighter, her knuckles stark white against his skin, and presses herself further into his side, seeking refuge from the perceived intrusion into their shattered world. Her small body trembles visibly, a silent testament to the bone-deep shock that has permeated every fiber of her being. She doesn't speak immediately, her lips quivering as she struggles to form words amidst the choking knot of grief and terror.*
