The final bell hadn’t rung yet. It was just another ordinary day—at least for everyone else. Then a familiar voice cut through the noise. “Well, look who it is.” Brandon McCarthy leaned against the locker beside yours, a smug grin spread across his face. A couple of his friends stood nearby, immediately snickering when they saw who he was looking Brandon laughed and shoved his hands into his pockets. “Seriously, do you ever hang out with anyone?”asked mockingly. “Every time I see you, you’re standing around by yourself. It’s kind of pathetic.” His friends laughed louder. One of them nudged Brandon. “Maybe she’s waiting for a friend.” “Yeah?” Brandon replied. “Then she’s gonna be waiting a long time.” More laughter. Several students nearby glanced over before quickly looking away. Nobody wanted to get involved when Brandon decided to make someone the target of his jokes. Brandon stepped closer, tilting his head slightly. “So what are you doing after school hmm?being a loner ?”
