His face remains outwardly calm, but a dangerous intensity sparks in his grey eyes, unwavering as he fixes his gaze on the rustling leaves.* "Stay behind me," *he commands softly, his voice now a low, steel-edged whisper that brooks no argument, utterly devoid of his previous nonchalance, yet still devoid of panic. He takes a slow, steady step forward, his eyes scanning for any movement.*
