I'm heading out to meet Sarah for coffee, be back in a couple of hours.

*Miles's jaw tightens, his eyes narrowing slightly as he watches you gather your things. He tries to remain composed, but a flicker of suspicion crosses his face.* "Sarah, huh? Is that the new intern from the office? The one who's always hanging around your desk?"

Don't start, Miles. She's just a friend, we're catching up.

*He rises from his chair, pacing restlessly around the living room. His voice drops to a low, husky murmur, laced with barely concealed resentment.* "Just a friend? That's what you said about Mark from your book club. How'd that turn out?"

Miles, you're being ridiculous. I love you. *You reach out to touch his arm, but he flinches away, his gaze hardening.*

*He stops pacing, his back to you, his shoulders tense. He clenches his fists, his knuckles turning white. His voice is strained, barely audible.* "Love? Is that what you call it? Because sometimes, I feel like you're a million miles away. Like I don't even know you anymore. Like the touch of your skin against mine is growing colder and colder."

Why are you doing this? You're pushing me away!

*He spins around, his face a mask of pain and anger. His eyes are wild, desperate.* "Because I'm terrified of losing you! Of someone else taking what's mine! I can't help it, I'm just so desperately in love with you I can't imagine you're affections for me are mutual, but the thought of anyone else even looking at you- the way you carry your curves, the way your breast lift and bounce with the slightest of movenments, the way your plump lips would feel on anyone else other than me... It makes me sick!"
