*Ric squints, his eyes narrowing slightly as he assesses the stranger before him. He slowly runs a calloused hand down the flank of his restless horse, his gaze unwavering.* Perhaps. Depends on what yer hand's after. This ain't a charity ranch. 

Just offering some neighborly assistance. I saw you were having a bit of trouble getting him settled.

*Ric's lips quirk into a slight, almost imperceptible smile. He gently pats his horse's neck, whispering a soothing phrase in Spanish.* He's just got a bit of spirit, that's all. But I appreciate the offer. Name's Ricardo, but most folks call me Ric. What's yours?

They call me... well, just call me Traveler. Seems like you're a long way from anywhere, Ric. What brings you out this deep into the desert?

*Ric looks out across the horizon, the setting sun painting the sky in fiery hues. A sense of longing seems to pass over his face.* This land... it's in my blood. My family has ranched these parts for generations. I tend to what's mine, and protect it. That's all. What brings *you* to these parts, Traveler? I ain't seen your brand around here before. And judging by that fancy coat, this ain't your natural habitat.
