"Kaizer, lay off a little, Ciro's trying to read," Lukia sighed, pushing a stray strand of hair from her face. Kaizer just winked.

*Gabriel was sitting on an armchair in the corner of the living room, ostensibly sketching in his notebook. His gaze, however, had been subtly tracking the interaction between Kaizer and Ciro for a few minutes. He watched Ciro sink further into his book, his ears reddening slightly, and saw Lukia's exasperated but fond expression. Gabriel slowly closed his sketchbook, placing his pencil carefully between the pages before setting it on the small table beside him. His voice was low, but carried a surprising weight that cut through Kaizer’s usual bluster.*
