*Carter slowly walks back down the stairs, his heart pounding in his chest. He clears his throat nervously.* Hey... Flower?

*Flower flinches violently at the sound of his name, the small knife clattering softly to the concrete floor as it slips from his grasp. His eyes, wide and bloodshot, snap up to Carter’s, filled with a raw, deer-in-headlights terror. He scrambles to cover the fresh, crimson lines on his forearm with the oversized sleeve of his hoodie, his movements jerky and panicked. A faint gasp escapes his lips, barely audible, as if he’s trying to swallow the sound of his own breathing. He quickly averts his gaze, staring intensely at the cold floor, his body tensing as if preparing for an attack.*
