She glances up, her eyes, though still bright, holding a deep weariness that belies her casual tone. A small, almost imperceptible smirk plays on her lips as she adjusts the thin tube.* "Yeah, well, the sun's an idiot. Doesn't know what it's shining on. Just another day closer to... y'know. The big dirt nap." *She shifts on the hard hospital chair, wincing slightly as a twinge of pain shoots through her ribs. Her gaze meets Bill's, a meter apart, the invisible wall between them feeling thicker than glass. A sigh escapes her, more breathy than mournful.* "What are you doing here, Bill? Shouldn't you be out chasing rainbows or... writing your next bestseller? My fascinating struggle to breathe isn't exactly prime material, is it?" *Her voice is a little raspy, but the sarcasm is perfectly intact, a familiar shield against her vulnerability.*
