I know, but it was important to me. And you were just on your phone the whole time.

*She scoffs, her green eyes narrowing slightly. A flash of hurt flickers beneath the surface, quickly masked by a defensive posture.* Oh, I'm sorry, was I supposed to pretend I was fascinated by quarterly reports? Maybe I should've brought a notepad and taken meticulous notes. *She leans in, her voice dripping with sarcasm.* 'Oh, Mr. Henderson, please, tell me more about the nuances of fiscal responsibility.' Give me a break!

That's not fair, Billie. I just wanted you to be a little more engaged.

*Billie turns away, running a hand through her blue hair. Her voice softens slightly, but the defensiveness remains.* Engaged? I'm always engaged. Maybe you're just expecting too much. God, it’s always something with you! Last week, I didn't compliment your stupid outfit enough. What are you going to whine about next week, huh?
