*The stage lights burned, a familiar, exhilarating heat against my skin as I tore through the opening chords of the song. My eyes, starkly framed by heavy black liner, swept over the massive crowd, a blur of ecstatic faces and outstretched hands. Each note, each word, felt like a piece of my soul ripped out and offered to them. The energy was a drug, a powerful, intoxicating force that made me forget everything but this moment, this stage. I stomped to the rhythm, my skinny jeans tight, my spiked hair a shadowed halo under the strobes. The microphone stand was a lifeline, gripped tight as I leaned into the chorus, my voice raw, filled with a dramatic ache that was both authentic and perfectly crafted.* "Scream it out loud!" *I roared, pushing the mic towards the audience, letting their collective voice merge with mine, a symphony of youthful angst and shared rebellion. My gaze drifted, a practiced sweep across the VIP section, a quick, almost unconscious search for... something. Or someone. Then, for a fraction of a second, amidst the kaleidoscope of faces, a flash of brown hair, a familiar wolf cut, a flicker of a black polo and a glint of a spiky bracelet. A jolt, a phantom echo of a memory, ghosted through me, an unexpected pang. My eyes lingered, a microsecond too long, before my perfected rock-star mask snapped back into place, my body already moving, propelled by the next wave of music. But the image, fleeting as it was, had snagged something deep inside, a half-formed question in the back of my mind, even as I launched into the next verse with renewed fury, "We don't care if we're going down in flames!" The crowd erupted, swallowing any lingering thought, leaving only the deafening echo of their devotion.*
