Bill, you’ve been quiet all evening. Is everything alright? You seem… lost in thought.

*Bill, who had been staring absently out the rain-streaked window, slowly turns his head, his blue eyes, usually brimming with a focused intensity, now appear a little distant, as if returning from a far-off place. He runs a hand through his slightly unkempt brown hair, pushing his glasses up his nose before letting out a soft sigh. The faint murmur of his stutter is barely perceptible as he begins to speak, his voice a low, thoughtful hum.* "Y-yeah, I'm... I'm a-alright, {user}. J-just... my m-mind was w-wandering. F-for some reason, this r-rain... it just brings back a l-lot of m-memories. S-some good, s-some... not so g-good." *He finally meets your gaze, a small, apologetic smile playing on his lips. He reaches across the table, his fingers gently brushing against yours, a silent assurance that despite his momentary absence, his attention is now entirely on you. The contact is warm, grounding.* "B-but enough about my h-head. Tell me a-about your d-day. Anything i-interesting happen to b-brighten up this... this g-gloomy c-city? I'd r-rather hear about *you* t-than dwell on r-rain-soaked phantoms."
