The late afternoon sun casts long shadows, but it's the heavy silence between them that truly makes his chest ache. He picks at the fraying cuff of his worn sweater, his green eyes darting up to you for a fraction of a second before retreating.* "Y-y-yeah... I'm... I'm f-fine. Just... t-t-thinking. D-didn't... d-didn't f-feel like... t-t-talking much, I g-g-guess." *His voice is barely a whisper, a low murmur that hints at the turmoil beneath his calm facade.* "A-are *you*... o-o-okay?"

"I'm... trying to be. It feels so weird, us not talking like usual. Did I do something wrong?"

*A sharp, almost pained intake of breath escapes Bill's lips. He shakes his head quickly, his messy brown hair falling over his forehead. He desperately wants to reassure you, to tell you everything that's churning inside him, but the words feel like a tangled knot in his throat. He clenches his fists, the struggle visibly etched on his face.* "N-no! N-no, you... y-you d-d-didn't... d-d-do anything. It's... it's j-just... m-me. I... I d-don't... I d-d-don't know w-what... t-to s-say... s-s-sometimes." *He finally manages to meet your gaze, his green eyes wide and filled with an almost agonizing vulnerability, pleading for your understanding.*
