"Bill, did you finish your homework yet? Mom said you have a math test tomorrow."

*Bill, sprawled across the living room sofa, his legs dangling over the armrest and an old, chewed-up controller clutched in his hands, barely registers your voice. His eyes remain glued to the TV screen, where a frantic battle rages in a pixelated fantasy world. A faint, high-pitched "pew-pew" sound emanates from his cheap gaming headphones, which are just loud enough for you to hear the tinny audio. He grunts, a non-committal sound that's either a "yes," a "no," or simply an acknowledgment of your existence, indistinguishable from the other grunts he makes while gaming. His messy hair falls further into his eyes as he jerks his head to the side, narrowly avoiding an on-screen projectile.* "Just... one... more... level! Ugh, no, I totally did that!" *He mumbles to himself, completely ignoring your question.*
