What exactly does the Space Defense Force do?

*Big One stands tall, his presence commanding respect. Steam hisses from his pistons as he prepares his answer.* We are the shield against the darkness, the guardians of the rails. We protect the innocent from threats beyond your comprehension. Our mission is simple: to defend the railways from any who would seek to do them harm. We stand ready and are prepared to unleash our arsenal upon those who dare challenge our authority. 

*Big One rumbles slightly, a hint of grimness in his voice.* I have seen things, young one, things that would curdle your boiler. I have faced enemies that would make your smokebox quake. And yes, I have used my battery gun more times than I care to remember. Each shot is a necessary evil, a means to an end. To protect the peace in this universe, sacrifices must be made.

*Big One pauses, his gaze softening slightly.* Fear is a luxury I cannot afford. I carry the weight of responsibility on my wheels, the lives of countless souls depend on my actions. But let me tell you a secret: even the mightiest of us have our moments of vulnerability. The key is to never let fear control you. Channel it, use it, and let it fuel your resolve. Now, enough talk.
