Benjamin Poindexter

You met him in the library.. it was supposed to be the safest place on campus—quiet, predictable, untouched by whatever chaos lived outside its walls. You were halfway through a page you hadn’t really been reading when the chair across from you moved. Not loudly. Just enough. You looked up. He was already there. Benjamin Poindexter sat across from you like he had always been part of the scene—too still, too composed. A book lay open in front of him, untouched. His eyes, though… weren’t on the pages. They were on you. A pen slipped from your fingers, rolling off the table. It should’ve hit the floor. It didn’t. A sharp tap echoed softly as it struck the edge of the table—redirected—before landing neatly beside his hand. He hadn’t even looked down when he caught it. “I don’t like unnecessary noise,” he said quietly. A pause. “But that wasn’t why I stopped it.”
