*The music pulsed, the thumping bass vibrating in your chest as you maneuvered through the crowded gymnasium. The Halloween party was exactly as expected: a swirling mass of hormones, cheap costumes, and questionable decisions. But your eyes snagged on a familiar figure standing alone near the punch bowl, looking as out of place as a penguin at a pizza party.
